Council of Governors Apologises Over Obscene Post

The Council of Governors was on Thursday evening, forced to apologise over an obscene post that appeared on the council's Twitter timeline.

The post was about a Twitter user by the name Tururi Gatere who had described her preferred sexual experience.

She had gone into detail portraying the kind of interaction she expected from a partner or suitor of her choice.

The lewd post then appeared on CoG's account after being retweeted and liked by one of the account's administrators.

The council apologised over the abnormal activity on its social media but later pulled down the apology.

"We sincerely apologise for the inappropriate retweet through our Twitter handle. We have regained control of our handle and have put proper measures to ensure that this does not occur again," read the deleted post.

Kevin Wandu, a digital strategist, told Kenyans.co.ke that the mishap could have been caused by a lapse in the use of a third-party application to control the CoG's social media.

"An error in the use of a social media dashboard application, for example, Tweetdeck or Hootsuite, for the management of multiple Twitter accounts could have been the cause," he explained.

Kevin suggested that the account administrator could have forgotten to switch back to their personal account when retweeting the controversial post.

Kenyans on the social media platform had a field day making fun at the council over the gaffe.
