Flamboyant Former Youth Fund Boss Jailed

Former youth fund boss Gor  Semelango will cool his heels in jail for the next 30 days after a Milimani court sentenced him without an option for bail.

K24 reported that the flamboyant businessman had been on the run until Tuesday, September 24, afternoon when the police finally caught up with him.

He was accused of defaulting on a Ksh9 million debt and consequently evading police arrest.

Semelango is said to have defaulted in paying George Miyare & Co. Advocates, who had sought the court’s intervention to help them get their money back.

Consequently, a warrant of arrest was issued for the businessman but he allegedly found a way of evading the police traps that were set to nab him.

The Mediamax publication further claimed Semelango was transferred to the industrial area remand prison where he is to spend the 30 days.

The court gave the complainant power to file a formal suit to force the former youth fund boss to pay the debt after the 30 days had expired.

The former Youth Fund chairman is known for his flashy, philanthropic, outgoing nature and has reportedly had several chase cars in his entourage in the recent past.

President Uhuru Kenyatta fired Semelang'o from the Youth Fund barely a year after he had been appointed by the former president Mwai Kibaki.

In 2013, Semelang”o was among the influential youths who volunteered to shield Uhuru against ICC accusations.
