Martha Karua Harshly Criticises Both Inua Mama And Team Embrace

Former Gichugu MP Martha Karua on Monday, November 11, broke her silence over the squabbling between female leaders allied to Deputy President William Ruto and other allied to President Uhuru Kenyatta and former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.

The former presidential candidate who was speaking at a conference in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, criticised both factions dubbed Inua Mama the supports the DP and Team Embrace that supports the president and the ODM leader respectively.

Karua, who lost the Kirinyaga gubernatorial race to Anne Waiuguru referred to the back-and-forth insults between the female leaders as the saddest thing in the political scene at the moment.

"The most unfortunate thing happening in the Kenyan political space right now is the women Parliamentarians agreeing to be the praise choir for male groupings seeking to succeed the current president," the Narc Kenya party leader stated.

She further observed that by the MPs agreeing to be 'cheerleaders' for their male counterparts they were actually doing a disservice to fellow women.

Karua's sentiments came after several months of gruelling campaigns and countrywide tours by the two factions as they drummed up support for their preferred candidates.

According to The Standard, the two factions of female leaders have been accused of launching personal attacks during their rallies.

The most recent of the recorded battle of words, Laikipia Woman Representative Catherine Waruguru of Inua Mama went on the offensive against Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru, who is a proponent of the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI), in a nasty attack ion her recent Marriage.

"We have a woman who is yet to give birth in her recent marriage but she is out here telling us to wait for the birth of the BBI," Waruguru was quoted.

Warurugu went on to allege that it was the Jubilee Party the imposed Waiguru as the first female governor in Central Kenya and she went ahead to superimpose herself as the spokesperson of the region.

"Don't think because Jubilee assisted you to become the first female governor in the region, you are now Wangu wa Makeri ( the only female Kikuyu chief during the colonial era)," the woman rep added.

On the other hand, leaders from Team Embrace were mocking their counterparts from Inua Mama after the loss of Jubille Candidate McDonald Mariga in the Kibra by-election on Thursday, November 7
