How Julie Gichuru Made a Come Back on KTN

After Julie Gichuru's departure from mainstream media, she launched her own media production company, Arimus Media with a view to producing her own TV content.

One of the shows produced by her production company is The Trading Bell, which airs on KTN News every Friday at 3pm.

According to Arimus Media, the show, which is in collaboration with Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE) and KTN News, is a premier business show which aims at educating viewers on the capital markets industry.

KTN News Business reporter Aby Agina is the host of the Trading Bell Show on KTN News.

The show first went on air in February 2018 under the stewardship of celebrated KTN news anchor and business reporter Aby Agina. It is also hosted by Maalika Kazia who is also an anchor and reporter at the studio.

Media reports indicate that the show first started off at the national broadcaster, KBC, but due to low traction and viewership, was shifted to KTN News.

The show was also reported to have been modelled after celebrated CNN news anchor Richard Quest's Quest Means Business, where he presents an analysis on some of the biggest news stories from the world of business.

After the staggering success of the first season of The Trading Bell, KTN extended it for another season, with the third season premiering on June 6, 2019.

The colourful launch of the show took place at Sarova Stanely, Nairobi and was attended by State House Chief of Staff Nzioka Waita.

“Today’s launch is a testament of our continued commitment to enhance investor knowledge as well as showcase Kenya’s improving macro-economic environment to mobilize local resources and international capital to Kenya.” NSE Chair Sam Kimani told the guests in attendance.

Ever since the start of the show, it has gone ahead to feature top CEOs and industry players in listed companies holding conversations about the stock market, investment and analysis of market trends.

Celebrated CNN Journalist Richard Quest on Trading Bells on KTN News on November 2, 2018.

Some of the top guests include Safaricom's Michael Joseph, Kenya Airways' Sebastian Mikosz, Centum Investment's James Mworia and CBK Governor Patrick Njoroge.
