Raw footage of an accident along the busy Thika Superhighway emerged on Wednesday, December 25, 2019.
According to the recording from a dashboard camera mounted on a car that was driving just behind the vehicle that ran over the motorcyclist, the accident occurred at 7:34 a.m.
The saloon car blatantly rammed into the rider who was positioned in the middle of the lane.
He was also positioned on the fast lane - the lane furthest to the right, where only vehicles traveling at the maximum allowed speed are supposed to use.
According to the NTSA Operation of Motorcycles Regulations 2014, it is the responsibility of the motorcyclist not to ride or operate a motorcycle between lanes of traffic or between adjacent lines or rows of vehicles.
However, the unidentified driver of the white saloon car swerved to the right side of the motorcycle and simply rammed into him from the side, forcing him to roll several times on the busy highway.
Luckily for the rider, the vehicle that was right behind managed to stop, while a mini-bus that was making its way up the ascent leading up to Juja town also managed to swerve just in time and avoided running over the motorcycle.
The rider was extremely fortunate to walk away with his life after what can only be described as a close shave.
