Duale Picks Fight With Govt Agency in Angry Rant

The leader of the majority in the National Assembly Aden Duale went into an angry rant over the actions by the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) in the North-Eastern Region.

In a long post on his social media platforms on Saturday, February 15, the Garissa Township MP lamented that the TSC had blatantly discriminated against the region through its decision to withdraw teachers on security grounds.

"TSC commission act doesn’t allow it to divide its workforce across the country along tribal, ethnic and religious lines as it has happened in the mass transfers of teachers in the North Eastern Province.

"Insecurity caused by Alshabab in the coast and north Eastern requires a unified effort by all security agencies working in collaboration with communities. TSC's actions support the terrorist ideology of dividing our nation along ethnic and religious lines," he wrote.

The Majority leader lamented that the TSC had overstepped its mandate by transferring the teachers without a plan to plug in the shortage in effect depriving students from the region the much-needed learning opportunities.

This, he insisted, was one of the reasons why the government's agendas in the region were not being realized as intended.

"Today the National Government programs on new competency-based curriculum and 100% secondary school transitions have stalled as a result of the actions by TSC.

"The Parliamentary Select Committee on Education must act in its oversight role in summoning the TSC officials and Education CS Magogha to answer on their role in the education crisis in NEP," he wrote.

Duale was speaking at an event with over 180 volunteer teachers drawn from different educational institutions in Garissa who were recruited to plug in the gap by the teachers who were withdrawn by TSC on safety grounds.

"We have mobilized local talent and resources to ensure as leaders our children access their basic right to education as we engage the National Government to fulfill its constitutional mandate without any discrimination,"

"They assist in teaching following the unconstitutional, illegal, discriminative and abuse of office by the Teachers Service Commission. We thank them for their generous call to duty," he concluded.
