Public Service and Gender CS Prof. Margaret Kobia on Wednesday, June 10, released a statement in support of Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru who was impeached by members of the County Assembly.

The statement elicited mixed reactions online with many faulting the CS for claiming Waiguru was impeached because she was a woman. In the midst of all the discussion, Teacher Joshua Njenga, who's also a motivational training director dissected the contents of the statement itself.

Njenga graded the CS's statement 4 marks out of a possible 10, which translates to 40 per cent - a 'D' grade. He further added the comment 'See Me,'  synonymous on exam papers with low marks where a teacher is expected to re-evaluate a student's problems after a poor performance.

The trainer pointed out some glaring grammatical errors that had been carried from the header to the body of the statement that could have been avoided by a simple spell-check.

The structure of the statement also drew criticism from Njenga who noted that the explanations given in the document weren't substantial rather justified by a sweeping statement.

"If there is no logical connection between a conclusion and the statement it tries to explain, readers will not buy your statement," he observed.

The Trainer further noted that the CS explanation that 'the impeachment was an indicator that some people didn't value strong women leadership' could not pass the consistency test.

"Does it mean that those who supported the impeachment of Susan Kihika and Cecily Mbarire don't value strong women leadership? What about those who supported the impeachment of Waititu? Does it mean that don't value strong men leadership?" he posed.

Njenga further established that the correlation drawn between the current Covid-19 pandemic and the impeachment as irrelevant.

"It adds no value to the argument. Was she developing a cure for Covid-19, or how will her absence affect the fight against the disease?" he stated.

Waiguru was impeached on June 9, after 23 of the 33 MCAs in the county voted for her removal while only six abstained.

House Speaker Kenneth Lusaka on June 10, confirmed receiving her impeachment resolution from the Kirinyaga County Assembly Speaker Anthony Gathumbi. However, the former Devolution CS moved to court to challenge her impeachment claiming that it was unlawful because High Court temporarily stopped assembly proceedings over Covid-19.
