Kirinyaga billionaire and husband to Kirinyaga Woman Representative Purity Ngirici has dared police to arrest him over plans to hold demos in the county.

Andrew Ngirici was summoned by police in Mwea East Sub-County and was grilled for two hours.

He had threatened to organise protests if the Senate chooses to put the fate of Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru in the hands of an 11-member committee.

Mwea East OCPD, John Onditi asked him to withdraw the plans but Ngirici was adamant that he would proceed with his plans.

“I told them I will go ahead to mobilise people to participate in the protests. Picketing is a constitutional right,” he told reporters.

“I asked them to arrest me if they felt I have breached any law. They, thereafter, told me to go home,” Ngirici added.

On Friday, Senate Majority whip stated that the Senate Business Committee had recommended a committee to handle the governor’s ouster.

Kirinyaga Woman Rep Purity Ngirici had also warned the house against considering a committee to probe Waiguru.

“I have been sent by Kirinyaga residents to say that Governor Waiguru’s impeachment should not be handled by a committee that can be easily swayed. We want it to be heard by all the 67 senators. This is not a request, it is demand,” she spoke in Kirinyaga on Friday, June 12.

“I want Irungu Kang’ata to listen to me clearly, this is not Murang’a, its is Kirinyaga and he should keep off. The senators must be allowed to exercise their oversight mandate without intimidation from the executive,” she roared.

The woman rep sent a message to Odinga, cautioning him against meddling in county affairs.

“If he is just and has fought for the democracy of this country, he should not agree to be used to protect those accused of misappropriation of funds,” Ngirici warned.
