Three people lost their lives an hour to midnight on Saturday, July 25, after being involved in a grisly road accident that occurred opposite Hilton Garden Inn Hotel along Mombasa Road.
Speaking to Kenyans.co.ke, an eyewitness revealed that the tragic incident happened at around 11 p.m. after a black Audi saloon car rammed straight into a boda boda rider, killing him on the spot.
According to the witness, the vehicle appeared to have rolled a number of times before landing on the side of the road.
"Two occupants in the Audi, the driver and the front passenger also died on the spot. There was a third occupant in the saloon car who was still alive, but trapped in the back left passenger seat in the mangled wreclage of the car," the witness stated.
A Red Cross ambulance was first to the scene approximately an hour after the deadly accident, and the survivor was qucikly rushed to a nearby hospital for emergency treatment.
The police also arrived and took the bodies of the deceased as well as the vehicle away from the scene.
Footage has since emerged,captured by a dashboard camera, showing a vehicle speeding along the highway just moments before the accident.
The tragic incident came just 2 weeks since five people died with several others sustaining injuries in a fatal road accident that occurred on Friday, July 10 at Kingatuani, Machakos county.
According to eyewitness reports, the crash occurred after a 14-seater matatu collided with a truck before a third matatu rammed into the two vehicles on Friday morning along the Kitui-Machakos road.
Mwala Sub-County traffic base commander, Jack Ila, who linked the accident to reckless driving cautioned motorists against flouting traffic rules.
