Johana Ng’eno, MP Emurua Dikirr is In trouble with the police for holding a meeting to issue out bursaries without getting a police permit.
The police insisted that the MP should have applied for a permit before holding the meeting inline with the Covid-19 containment measures.
In his defence, MP Ng’eno argued that the meeting had only twenty participants, and so he did not see the need for a permit as it was held in his office, and the bursaries were meant for orphaned children.
This altercation with the police comes days after the MP threatened to sue the National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) for including his name in the list of shame.
The MP, speaking on Thursday, February 4, rubbished the list claiming that he has never incited anybody. He added that the NCIC had never summoned him at any time.
"I am surprised that NCIC listed me as number two among those in their radar over hate speech. This is character assassination, and I am assembling my lawyers to face it off with the commission. I want my name removed from the list with immediate effect,’’ he stated.
The outspoken Ruto ally said that he was being intimidated for fighting for the rights of the disadvantaged members of the society. He was listed in the list alongside Mike Sonko, Dagoretti MP Simba Arati and Silvanus Osoro ,MP South Mugirango.
The MP was also arrested in July 2020 for remarks he had made at Murkan that the police said were meant to incite communities. During the event he had made remarks about President Kenyatta telling him to either work with Ruto or go home.
‘’You are not Kenya and Kenya is not Kenyatta’s or Mama Ngina’s land. This land belongs to 47 Million Kenyans, you cannot run it as you wish, ‘’ he stated.
