Murdered Dutch tycoon Herman Rouwenhorst's wife Riziki Cherono, was reportedly married to his brother, according to documents tabled in court.

On Thursday, July 29, a lead detective in the case told the court that they had traced Cherono and her brother-in-law's marriage certificate.

The documents presented a new twist in the case in which the woman was accused of planning and orchestrating the Dutch tycoon's murder. Police stated that they were investigating a possible love triangle and inheritance row.

"The respondent (Cherono) claims to have been married to the deceased (Dutch billionaire) but we have established through a marriage certificate that she was the wife to the deceased's brother.

"She sired a child with the said brother of the deceased," the detective stated.

Preliminary investigation reports further alleged that the suspect had sired two children with both Rouwenhorst and his brother.

The children were lined up as witnesses after they recorded statements allegedly providing evidence against their mother.

Cherono pleaded not guilty to plotting her husband's murder. Two other suspects who were arrested in late July 2021 allegedly confessed that Cherono promised them a hefty payday.

DCI alleged that the woman took the suspect to their home on a recce mission to familiarize themselves with the home and the plot.

"Since the arrest of her accomplices, we have received evidence that the respondent authored the crime by planning, procuring and facilitating the perpetrators for her own benefit," the lead detective argued.

The case will be mentioned on August 16, 2021.
