Auctioneers raided the Karen home of Kirinyaga Woman Representative Purity Ngirici on Monday, August 9 over a Ksh 5 million debt.

The auctioneers were seeking to seize items equivalent to the debt after the couple allegedly failed to pay the amount to Flex Air Charters in 2016.

The MP had hired helicopters between May 8 and August 17, 2016 accumulating a Ksh5.9 million debt.

Reports indicate that she had paid part of the amount but was left with a balance of Ksh3.9 million.

Flex Air Charters went to court in a bid to compel the legislator and her husband, Andrew Ngirici, to pay the balance. Lawyer Donald Kipkorir stated that the company won the case but Ngirici failed to pay the amount.

It is at this point that the company sought the services of NSC Auctioneers.

Speaking to People Daily, Ngirici stated that she was not aware of the matter until auctioneers landed at her home on Monday.

Ngirici added that she paid the amount because she needed to save her items. She, however, stated that she had taken the matter to the Court of Appeal.

“The auctioneers descended at my residence and took away all the household items including a Ksh2 million television set,” she said.

NCS auctioneers representative Timothy Owuor stated that the matter was resolved after their lawyer, Murang'a Senator Irungu Kang'ata, promised to deliver a cheque to them.

“It was a matter of misunderstanding and it has been resolved,” Kanga’ta said.

Ngirici claimed that her support for Deputy President William Ruto was to blame for her woes.

“The whole thing is political; these were my enemies at play. The statement I made over the weekend has really touched them,” she concluded.
