The woes for the Akasha family continue to deepen after their 18-year-old twins mysteriously disappeared.
According to Hayat Akasha, widow to the late drug baron Ibrahim Akasha, her grandchildren were last spotted in the company of neighbours, who were foreign nationals.
Hayat stated that the four foreign nationals, who crafted a bond with the children, had rented a house adjacent to that of the twin's parents.
She added that the two girls were last seen on Monday, August 2, leaving the house at 7 am.
Hayat allayed her fears that her grandchildren may have been abducted and ferried away into another country. The family reported the matter at the Dandora police station under OB BL10/02/082021T.
According to a police officer privy to the investigations, one of the foreign nationals has already left the country while the other three no longer live in the house.
Speaking to Kenyans.co.ke, family lawyer John Khaminwa confirmed that he hasn't received any substantial leads on the matter.
"The police are currently recording statements, though the neighbours are yet to be arrested," he stated.
The news comes as the Akasha family have been on the spot over drug trafficking allegations.
Ibrahim Akasha, an acclaimed tycoon, was said to have established a drug trade empire that managed operations across different countries in the 1990s. The tycoon was killed in Amsterdam, Netherlands by a gunman on May 3, 2000.
His sons, Baktash Akasha and his brother Ibrahim were recently charged on US soil for drug trafficking allegations. They are currently serving 25 and 23 years in prison respectively.
