KTN show host Timothy Otieno has won a fully paid scholarship to study in the United Kingdom (UK).
In an announcement made by the UK Embassy on Thursday, August 19, the young journalist was listed among 38 winners of the prestigious Chevening Scholarship 2021/2022.
Otieno could not hide his joy after receiving the news of winning the scholarship.
"I'm so excited. Thank you so much, Chevening, thank you," an elated Otieno stated in a video.
He revealed that he would be pursuing a Masters degree in International Journalism at Brunel University, London.
The Chevening Scholarship is the second award the Area Code host is winning within 2 months.
On May 4, he was announced the winner of the journalist of the year award at the Annual Journalism Excellence Awards (AJEA).
The Chevening Scholarship is a programme aims at developing future leaders by offering scholarship to study in the UK.
The winners of the scholarship will also join a community of professionals who are creating positive change around the world.
It gives recipients a unique opportunity for leaders, influencers, and decision-makers from across the world to develop professionally and academically. In addition, they will also network extensively, experience UK culture, and build lasting positive relationships with the UK.
Recipients of the award are selected by British embassies and High Commissions throughout the world.
Chevening is funded by the UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) which has a worldwide network of embassies and consulates of the United Kingdom.
Apart from awards, it also offers fellowships to applicants. The deadline for application of the 2022/2023 scholarship and fellowship will be November 2, 2021.
