President Uhuru Kenyatta led the country in celebrating the 58th Madaraka Day celebrations at Wanguru stadium in Kirinyaga County.

The event was attended by Cabinet Secretaries, Members of the National Assembly and dignitaries from other countries that are Kenya's allies. 

During the event held on October 20, 2021, the organizers were strict to follow the Ministry of Health guidelines and it was an invite only event.

President Uhuru Kenyatta kicked off the celebrations after he made his way into Wang'uru stadium in his automobile and he inspected the guard of honour as the Commander In Chief of the Armed forces.

The Head of State made his way to the podium where he exchanged pleasantries with the political leaders who were invited to the event. He greeted his wife First Lady Margaret Kenyatta, Deputy President William Ruto and his wife Rachel Ruto.

The crowd cheered on when the President exchanged pleasantries with ODM leader Raila Odinga. He also moved to the opposite side of the podium to acknowledge Army Generals and Cabinet Secretaries.

After exchanging pleasantries the entertainment kicked off with the Air Force helicopter carrying a banner wishing Kenyans a Happy Mashujaa Day. The army also showcased their musical prowess with a rendition of various popular songs.

Traditional troupes led by Tazama Mbeere Dancers, Nyagati Muungano Mass Choir took centre stage. There was also a joint production of leading Central Kenya artistes among them Peter Kigia, J.B Maina, Allan Aaron, Shiru wa GP, Loise Kim, Ben Githae, Jose Gatutura and Samido who performed benga, Akorino, and gospel compositions.

Leaders led by Deputy President Dr William Ruto, ODM leader Raila Odinga, ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi and Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru addressed Kenyans attending the Mashujaa Day celebrations at Wang'uru Stadium in Mwea.

In their speeches, the leaders celebrated national heroes whose selflessness and sacrifice helped shape a progressive Kenyan.
