Atheists in Kenya society has promised to give believers cash benefits in the latest recruitment drive.

Atheists, who hold a firm belief that deities do not exist, through a poster shared on their official website, have offered mouthwatering deals for those willing to join the group.

Some of the benefits listed in the registration poster include giving successful members Ksh20,000 to cater for their medical expenses.

For members who lose their loved ones, they will get up to Ksh20,000 for the funeral expenses.

Other benefits associated with Atheism in Kenya include the offering of legal assistance especially in circumstances where members face discrimination based on their believes.

"Members can request for legal assistance in circumstances where they are discriminated against or writing of a will (if you prefer to be cremated after death)," part of the poster reads.

The group also joins its members during celebrations such as weddings and birthday events and gift them.

"During weddings, birthdays, and baby showers, we will celebrate with members by way of giving gifts, and in some cases being part of the celebrations," the registration poster added.

"We will give members a discount of 25 per cent on books, t-shirts and other promotional materials."

In case the society secures funds, members are given first priority in the application process and securing of the money.

"Members will be given a priority for funding, sponsorship, and training that have been organized in partnership with other organizations."

Just like other religious groups that give their members the right to pick leaders and be part of the decision-making body, those who successfully join the society will be allowed to give their input during the Annual General Meetings (AGMs), and their concerns taken into consideration.

Confirming the ongoing registration exercise, Harrison Mumia, who registered the first Atheist Society in Kenya on February 17, 2016, urged Kenyans to register in large numbers.

"Any Kenyan Atheist who has not registered as a member of AIK, please do so. We wanna help you," Mumia posted on his social media page on Monday, January 10.

According to the official website, the objective of the Atheists Society in Kenya includes promoting rational, and scientific examination of the universe and our place in it, promoting skeptical inquiry, and fostering public acceptance of Atheists in Kenya, among others.

So far, the society has been voicing its concerns on a number of issues including the scrapping of religious education in schools. However, most of its proposals have been opposed by the believers.
