Details regarding the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leader Raila Odinga's week-long trip abroad including days in India have emerged.

Media reports indicate that the former Premier took a trip to India to visit his daughter, Rosemary Odinga, who is undergoing treatment for her eyesight.

Rosemary is undergoing a medical procedure termed as Ayuverda- a traditional system that seeks to preserve health and wellness by balancing the body and the spirit.

The treatment is being done at Sreedhareeyam Ayurvedic Eye Hospital and Research Centre in Koothattukulam, India.

The chief doctor at the hospital, Narayanan Namboothiri was quoted by international sources affirming that Rosemary would be receiving checkups for a couple of days.

Official reports from Raila's spokesperson Dennis Onyango, had indicated that he would attend the 35th African Union Summit in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia before proceeding to India.

However, details regarding the trip to India remained scanty- leaving room for Kenyans and politicians to guess as to why Odinga was out of the country.

Rosemary's eyesight complications date back to 2017 when she lost her eyesight after suffering a minor stroke. Two years later, she regained her eyesight but has been undergoing medical checkups from time to time.

The Former Premier has been missing in action in the political scene for a number of days that has seen his allies alongside President Uhuru Kenyatta tour Mombasa county while launching the Universal Health Coverage.

At the event, President Kenyatta launched a scathing attack on Deputy President William Ruto -faulting him for alienating his office and opting to campaign instead.

"We have seen those who are just saying they did this and at the same time claiming that the government has done nothing. Work is not done on top of cars, it is done in offices and hospitals. The nurse does not peddle lies but goes to wards and theatres. In this Kenya, we see a lot," he stated.
