Education Cabinet Secretary Prof George Magoha has revealed that the government will prioritize bursaries and scholarships for KCPE 2021 candidates who will join boarding schools.

Speaking when he announced the placement of Form Ones on Monday, April 11, Magoha urged members of parliament to ensure fairness in the process of allocating funds.

He added that a section of unscrupulous politicians pocketed some of the bursary money meant for day-secondary students.

Alluding to this, Magoha noted that his Ministry would advocate for bursaries and scholarships to be given to students going to boarding schools.

"The government pays for school fees for every child in a day secondary school so If you're going to give a lot of funds to such candidates, that money may end up in your pockets."

"We are going to advise that you give the scholarships to only children who are going to boarding schools because the only thing that the day scholars require is school uniform and lunch money. In my case I skipped many lunch monies but does it reflect?" he posed.

While announcing the placement of over 1.2 million pupils in secondary schools, the CS stated that form ones will report on Tuesday, May 3, 2022.

He added that a total of 38,797 KCPE candidates had been admitted to national schools. In addition, over 1.2 million candidates were placed in secondary schools as part of the government's 100 per cent transition program.
