UPDATE: Monday, May 30: Presidential Aspirant Mwangi wa Iria, with his entourage in tow, blocks the entrance to the Bomas of Kenya where the IEBC is clearing Presidential candidates.

The Murang'a Governor was protesting a decision by IEBC to disqualify him from contesting for the Presidential seat and demanded an address from Chebukati.

"I am not leaving. Even if you bring Kenya Navy, I will not leave. Chebukati should come address us here," he told the press.

Presidential Aspirant Mwangi Wa Iria caused a fracas outside Independence Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) after his bid to run for Presidency was rejected.

In a video clip obtained by Kenyans.co.ke, the Murang'a Governor, who had presented himself at IEBC offices for clearance, accused the electoral body of favouritism on the night of Sunday, May 29.

In his spirited rant, the politician argued that he was being shortchanged after being informed that he had only submitted signatures from nine counties while he insisted his team had the requisite signatures from 24 counties.

Wa Iria further claimed foul play when he was returned and rescheduled yet he witnessed a number of other aspirants' names on the schedule even though they had been disqualified.

"I was even turned away to rectify one of the forms and told to return the next day but I was adamant I must come back today.

"Even those people who did not qualify have been added on to the schedule and we have seen them being invited in but I was struck off from the schedule," he stated.

The aspirant also claimed that he had proof that his team had met with the IEBC and went through his documents before submission - sensationally claiming that some rogue officials dumped some of his documents.

"This is a new Kenya. No elections will be conducted if I do not contest. I brought everything. I brought 24 (forms) then someone told me they were only 9... We even had a forwarding letter and other documents.

"We even have photos of your people going through item per item with our people. They have deliberately removed my name today by throwing them in the toilet. How comes no one has told me anything," he added.

The Presidential candidates' clearance exercise has seen many candidates disqualified with the list shrinking from 55 to barely 20.

Wa Iria had taken an issue with IEBC's decision to give Kalonzo Musyoka, who had earlier been disqualified, a second chance while he was yet to get any communication from the same commission.

Kalonzo, who has now been cleared to contest, had been given a second ultimatum to resubmit his documents by 9 am on Sunday, May 29 - which he did. His registration is scheduled for June 4.

Two more Presidential aspirants, Patrick King'ori and Justus Juma, were disqualified from the race after they failed to meet the commission's standards.
