Mama Ida Odinga

Mama Ida Odinga is a Kenyan businesswoman, activist and educator. She is the wife of Raila Odinga, the former Prime Minister of Kenya, Raila Odinga. 

She has also championed a host of other causes, many focused on women, children and health in Kenya. Odinga has advocated for the prevention of breast cancer and fistulas, and eradication of the chigoe flea. She has also mentored Kenyan schoolgirls and sat on the board of directors for an organization which aids paraplegics.

Akothee

Esther Akoth is a celebrated musician who has consistently sold out shows and is known for her electric performances and kind heart. 

Her intervention during the drought that hit Turkana warmed the hearts of many Kenyans, among them Rachel Ruto. 

Though she didn't save the day all by herself, she was able to mobilze well-wishers in a way that earned her admiration even from perceived critics. 

In just under two hours, she was able to raise more than Ksh1 million. 

Rachel Ruto

Rachel Ruto is the Second Lady of Kenya. During her tenure, she has become an advocate for women's rights and women's empowerment.



Through the Joyful Women Organization, she has spurred a table banking initiative throughout Kenya, and spreading to the rest of Africa.

She regularly holds prayer meetings and is heavily involved in the church.

Lulu Hassan

Lulu Hassan is a celebrated Citizen TV Swahili news anchor. She co-hosts the Nipashe Wikendi bulletin with her husband Rashid Abdallah.

When she is not anchoring the news, she is either chasing a human-interest feature or leading the production of award-winning Swahili soap operas under her company Jiffy Pictures. 

In 2019, Lulu aired a feature series titled Prison Diaries, where she helped family members reconcile with their loved ones.

Dorcas Shikobe

She is the captain of the Kenyan women's soccer team, Harambee Starlets. In November 2019, the defender led the national team as they were crowned winners of the 2019 Cecafa Championship in Tanzania.

Starlets dethroned former champions Tanzania's Kilimanjaro Queens 2-0 in the final at the Chamazi Stadium, Dar es Saalam to lift their first-ever regional title without conceding a single goal.

The win came shortly after the team got nominated for the women's national team by the Confederation of African Football (Caf).

Wanuri Kahiu

She is a renowned filmmaker who stood tall in the face of adversity with her controversial movie Rafiki (2018), which won her multiple awards in 2019. 

Rafiki, was banned in Kenya by the Kenya Film Classification Board (KFCB) after it was cited for promoting the rights of LGBTQ+ community. 

Wanuri also won the Young Programmer's Choice Award at the Dublin International Film Festival 2019.

She was featured as the Next Time 100 Most Influential People in the world for her daring films.

Michelle Ntalami

Michelle Ntalami is a budding entrepreneur who founded and serves as the CEO of Marini Naturals.

Her journey into the world of natural hair-care products was inspired by her dad, who was battling cancer.

She decided to cut her hair in solidarity with her father during his brave battle, and it was during this period that she had her 'light bulb moment,' going on to launch several natural hair-care products for all sexes.

In 2018, she was crowned as the female entrepreneur of the year in the inaugural Business Daily Newspaper's Top 40 Under 40 Women.

Carol Radull

She is one of the most revered radio personalities in Kenya. Radull is famous for 'The Jaza Stadi' slogan and initiative, which rallies fans to fill stadiums to support local-based sports teams.

The Classic 105 presenter is arguably the best sports presenter Kenya has ever produced. She has risen the ranks to outshine the male-dominated field of sports journalism.
