Sheila Chepkirui Kiprotich

Sheila Chepkirui Kiprotich is a Kenyan middle- and long-distance runner known for her global achievements, including her recent victory at the 2024 New York City Marathon, clocking 2:24:35.

Born on 7 December 1990, Sheila has excelled in international competitions, winning a bronze medal in the 10,000 metres at the 2022 Commonwealth Games.

She also holds the fourth-fastest time on the world all-time list for a women-only 10-kilometre road race.

Mildred Cheche

Mildred Cheche is a true testament to passion and preparedness, having overcome numerous challenges to earn her place on the list of Top 100 Kenyans.

At just 36 years old, she serves as the Head Coach of Kenya's U-17 national team, the Harambee Starlets.

Appointed to the role in January this year, Cheche has already made history in less than a year, breaking a barrier no Kenyan had crossed in the 61 years since independence.

Beatrice Chebet

At just 24 years old, Beatrice Chebet is the current world record holder in the 10,000m after clinching gold at the 2024 Paris Summer Olympics.

Inspired by her grandmother to pursue running as a career, Chebet set ambitious goals and has achieved remarkable success in just over two years. She became the first woman in history to run under 29 minutes for the 10,000m and the first Kenyan to win double-distance Olympic gold medals (5,000m and 10,000m) at the same Games.

Alexandra Ndolo

Although born in Germany, Alexandra Ndolo switched allegiances in 2022 to represent Kenya in fencing.

In 2024, she qualified as Kenya's sole fencer for the Paris Olympics.

Born to a Polish mother and a Kenyan father, the 38-year-old is the co-founder and board member of the Kenya Fencing Federation.

She has been instrumental in establishing fencing schools in Nairobi and facilitating fencing scholarship programmes for Kenyan fencers in South Africa.

Eric Ngige

Eric Ngige is a renowned Kenyan esports gamer.

The 23-year-old is Kenya’s Fifa 23 esports champion and is nicknamed 'Demon' owing to his technical ability on the pad. Ngige is described as a rising star by Esports enthusiasts. 

Not only has he emerged as one of the best locally, he has represented Kenya continentally and in global competitions.

For instance, he hoisted Kenya’s flag in the African gamrX Championships in Nigeria and the E-Ligue 1 Tour finals.

Mutahi Kibugu

Coming from a storied family of successful golfers in Kenya, Mutahi Kibugu has kept the family passion alive.

In 2022, his older brother, Njoroge Kibugu, was the only Kenyan who made the cut at the Magical Kenya Open. This year, Mutahi followed suit.

His father Daniel Kagwe was also an amateur golfer in the 2000s

Willis Otieno

 

Willis Otieno is a Kenyan long jump athlete.

In June this year, Willis won Kenya's first medal, silver, at the Special Olympics World Games in Berlin, Germany after finishing second in the standing long jump.

Otieno, 22, managed 1.25m off his third and final attempt in a contest won by  Hajredini Agron of North Macedonia on 1.6m. Sepulveda Roman of Colombia was third after registering a hop of 1.13m.
