The Kenya National Highways Authority (KENHA) on Tuesday, May 14, announced plans to dispose of motor vehicles through a public auction.
In a notice, the Authority revealed that the auction shall be held on Wednesday, May 29, and proceeded to ask all interested bidders to take the necessary steps.
All bidders were informed that the vehicles can be viewed at the KENHA Corridor A Offices located off Athi River /Namanga Interchange, opposite the Laptrust Fund Garden on Wednesday, May 15 from 9 am to 4 pm before the auction process commences.
The disposal to be led by M/s Trenad Auctioneers shall also be conducted at the viewing centre on the specified date at 11 am.
"Reservations have been made for Women & Persons with Disabilities. The sale is subject to reserved prices and the vehicles are sold on an as-is-where-is basis," reads part of the notice.
All interested bidders are asked to check the official KENHA website, kenha.co.ke, for any changes or clarification on the auction before the set date.
Bidders can also check the condition of the vehicles on sale through the official website or the Public Procurement Information Portal (PPIP) portal, tenders.go.ke, at no cost.
"For any clarification get in touch with the Deputy Director - Supply Chain Management-KENHA or the M/s Trenad auctioneers," the notice read in parts.
Notably, government institutions and parastatals dispose of unserviceable items or grounded motor vehicles through auctions to enhance efficiency and ensure prudent use of public resources.
KENHA announced another auction in January that was conducted at different locations and dates across the country.
Besides KENHA, another entity looking to auction vehicles is the State Department for Higher Education & Research under the Ministry of Education. The Department is looking to dispose of vehicles and assorted items.
"The State Department for Higher Education & Research now invites sealed tenders from eligible candidates to Purchase Boarded Motor Vehicle and Assorted Items," read part of the notice asking interested candidates to send their tender documents before May 21, at 11 am.
