United Democratic Alliance (UDA) Secretary General Cleophas Malala announced that China's ruling party, China Communist Party (CCP) has agreed to establish a leadership school at the party headquarters.

This is aimed at strengthening the party's political activities ahead of the 2027 elections.

Founded in 1920, China's ruling party has enjoyed a monopoly on power for over 75 years. Under the command of President Xi Jinping, the Communist Party consists of more than 90 million members.

Malala also confirmed that China would support Kenya's Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the construction of its new headquarters as a symbol of marking 60 years of diplomatic ties.

The UDA Secretary-General is on a 10-day visit aimed at strengthening bilateral ties and promoting cultural exchanges between the two nations.

The visit is hailed as a benchmarking exercise for the UDA officials to strengthen the party with effective ideologies and policies.

On Saturday, Malala led the UDA Party delegation to SANY International Holdings Headquarters in Changsha, Hunan Province, underscoring the integral role manufacturing plays in economic development and job creation.

"With a workforce of approximately 60,000 employees, the company has a significant global presence across all continents," Malala stated.

"The tour highlighted the importance of prioritizing manufacturing as a critical component of modernization and development, a focus emphasized in the Kenya Kwanza manifesto."

The visit comes as the second round of UDA's grassroots elections kicked off this past week. The election was conducted in Homa Bay, West Pokot and Busia.

In March, UDA executive director Nicodemus Bore stated that UDA would be seeking Ksh1 billion from CPC to aid in putting up its headquarters. It's still unclear if Malala has secured the Ksh1 billion deal before he resumes back to the country.

UDA's China tour arose from discussions in March 2024 when officials of China's Communist Party visited Kenya.
