Bomet governor, Hillary Barchok has fired back at Ruto’a ally Oscar Sudi over remarks directed at Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.

On Monday, Barchok cautioned Sudi against engaging in public spats with the deputy president because it is disrespectful.

“We are not going to allow a few people to bring shame to our government. DP Gachagua must be respected. If there is something he (deputy president) has said that you do not agree with, there is a respectable way to address the same,” Barchok stated.

Further Barchok urged politicians  from rift valley allied to Kenya Kwanza Alliance to forge strong ties with their Mount Kenya counterparts.

Barchok argued that the Deputy President was key in supporting Ruto’s candidature in 2022 and thus deserves respect.

The Governor’s was reacting to Oscar Sudi's remarks targeted at Gachagua where he said the DP cannot threaten him.

On Sunday Sudi  told Gachagua he  (Sudi) was at liberty to travel across the country beyond his constituencies in support of his party leader (President Ruto).

“Everyone contributed to the Kenya Kwanza Government. Let's respect each other. We ask the President and his deputy to respect us. We can't allow them to come and harass small leaders,” Sudi said.

His response was triggered by Gachagua’s comments on Saturday where the Deputy President, accused Ruto’s allies of engaging in succession politics.

“There are politicians from Rift Valley who have partnered with others in the Mt Kenya region and have decided to plan 2027 politics now. Why do you want to succeed the president while he is still alive?” Gachagua posed.

Barchok’s sentiments have exposed a growing rift in President WIlliam Ruto's party. It is even said Gachagua and Ruto are not in good terms politicaly.

The Deputy President has however, on several occasions refuted the claims of a fallout between him and the President.
