The Kenya Meteorological Department (Kenya Met) has listed eight regions which will receive increased rainfall intensity between 0900hrs July 7, and 0900hrs July 8.
This follows moderate showers that were experienced in Nairobi and other parts of the country on Saturday night.
Areas that will receive rainfall above 25 millimetres (mm) include Kiambu, Murang’a, Nyandarua and Nandi.
Parts of Laikipia, Trans Nzoia, Narok and Uasin Gishu will also receive rainfall above 25mm.
In Nairobi, moderate showers are expected in different parts of the city but not exceeding 20mm.
Parts of Machakos, Meru, Migori, Homa Bay, Nyamira, Bungoma and Busia are expected to receive a similar amount of rainfall as Nairobi.
All coastal counties of Mombasa, Tana River, Kilifi, Lamu and Kwale Counties are expected to experience a dry spell from Sunday through Tuesday.
Showers over a few places in the coastal regions are expected on Wednesday, July 10.
Kitui, Makueni, Kajiado and Taita Taveta Counties are also expected to experience dry spells throughout the week.
Arid and Semi-Arid Lands (ASAL) regions of Turkana, Samburu and West Pokot are expected to experience showers between 0900hrs July 7, and 0900hrs July 8.
Rainfall in the two areas is expected to be accompanied by thunderstorms with temperatures ranging between 36 degrees Celsius and 12 degrees Celsius.
“Intermittent cool and cloudy conditions are expected over some parts of the Highlands East and West of the Rift Valley, the South-eastern lowlands and the Rift Valley,” Kenya Met spoke of the general weather outlook for the period ending Wednesday, July 10.
“Rainfall is expected over the Highlands West of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin, the Rift Valley and North-western Kenya.”
