The Mwala Cluster Water and Sanitation Project kicked off in 2019 and is expected to benefit over 100,000 residents of Mwala Constituency.

The project is funded by the African Development Bank and was valued at Ksh538 million.

Separately, Mombasa County Government, through the Office of the County Secretary and Head of County Public Service, notified the public that it was cancelling 73 subleases.

Subsequently, the county cautioned the public from engaging in transactions relating to the parcels noting that 36 were in Tudor Housing Estates while the rest were in Mtopanga.

"Pursuant to cancellation of the subleases by Mombasa County Land Formalization and Regularization Committee on County Government Housing Estates and County Land, the following subleases are declared invalid and hence being brought to the attention of the Public not to have any transactions on them," read the notice in part.

In March this year, Mombasa County ordered 15 individuals who were living on government-owned properties to vacate.

Nationally, Housing Principal Secretary Charles Hinga directed individuals residing in government houses in six Nairobi estates to vacate within the same month.

Hinga wrote a letter to the affected individuals residing in Jogoo Road Phase I & II, Jamaa, Mbotela, Ahero, and Mawenzi Garden asking them to leave before April 30.

He explained that the land was to be used in the Affordable Housing project, which forms President William Ruto's legacy project that has since employed 130,000 individuals according to the Head of State.
