The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) on Thursday arrested Marsabit Senator Mohammed Chute.

While confirming his arrest, EACC Spokesperson Eric Ngumbi disclosed the senator had been taken to the Commission's headquarters in Nairobi for further interrogation.

The senator was arrested on accusation of his involvement in a multi-million graft within the Marsabit County Government and links to a conflict of interest.

Following his arrest, the anti-graft commission vowed to probe the allegations levelled against the senator and that more details would be provided in due course.

Chute's arrest comes barely a day after he accompanied President William Ruto during the commissioning of Kimuka Sub-Station in Kajiado.

During his meeting with the Head of State, Chute commended the President for allocating Ksh1 billion for livestock restocking to pastoralists in Marsabit County.

Chute's arrest comes barely a month after detectives similarly arrested Former Nandi Hills Member of Parliament Alfred Keter.

Keter was arrested in broad daylight when the former legislator was leaving a church service in Nairobi while heading to his car.

Clips seen by Kenyans.co.ke showed the former MP being taken out of his SUV and whisked away by detectives who placed him inside a white pickup truck.

While confirming the arrest, detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) clarified that the former legislator was arrested by the National Police Service on Sunday afternoon and charged with conspiracy to traffic firearms and incitement to violence.

The sleuths further confirmed that Keter was booked at Kamukunji Police Station and later released pending a forensic analysis of exhibits in possession of the DCI.
