The Football Kenya Federation has officially unveiled a five-member team to oversee the upcoming elections.
The electoral process officially commenced on Monday, September 23, as FKF CEO Barry Otieno unveiled the new board at the Villa Rosa Kempinski.
Former AFC Leopards chairperson Dan Mule will be part of a five-member board that also consists of Hesbon Owilla, Marceline Sande, Alfred Nganga, and James Waindi.
The quintet, who will serve on the board for a four-year term, will be tasked with overseeing elections from branch to national level.
Speaking during the unveiling, Owilla said the key goal of the board was to oversee a successful electoral process.
“The five of us are united in one common goal, to deliver not only free, fair and transparent elections, but a credible and reliable process. This is very key for us. You can count on us to deliver,” he said.
He added: “We understand that football is more than just a game—it’s a profession for many. These elections will be crucial in shaping the future of our beloved sport."
The new electoral board will be based at Kandanda House, FKF Headquarters and is expected to begin its mandate within three days.
Last month, the FKF held a Special General Meeting (SGM), where there was approval to have the board conduct the elections.
The newly inaugurated Electoral Board has announced that the FKF polls will be concluded by December 15.
Among the candidates in line to replace Nick Mwendwa are two former Kenyan internationals Sammy Owino and Taiwo Atieno, KPL CEO Jack Oguda, and Extreme Sports CEO Hussein Mohamed.
The incumbent Mwendwa faces an uphill task in retaining his seat, particularly because the Sports Act stipulates that one can only serve for two terms as FKF boss.
