Nandi County Governor Stephen Sang' received the resignation letters from two county ministers before he effected a cabinet reshuffle on Thursday, November 21.

Addressing the press and renaming his new cabinet, the governor confirmed the reception of resignation letters from the two; Engineer Drice Kibet Rono, the County Executive Member responsible for Transport and Infrastructure and Ruth Cherotich Koech, the County Executive Member responsible for Health and Sanitation.

The governor assigned his deputy Yulita Mitei to act as the County Executive Member responsible for Health and Sanitation after the resignation.

The resignation of the two members came a day after protests broke in the county when demonstrators stormed into the governor's office on Wednesday, November 18, demanding accountability for the alleged mismanagement of public funds.

The protestors had put the governor on the spot for failing to implement critical projects and called for a forensic audit of the county finances.

Sang' engaged the protesters promising dialogue and addressing their grievances. The governor, however, urged that the protests be politically instigated.

"I am ready to engage with you in a dialogue and you have the right to be heard. I have come here because you Gen Zs should be heard by the government. I want you to tell me in what way we can engage in a meaningful dialogue," the governor alleged.

Apart from the resignations, the governor also reshuffled his cabinet in a bid to solve non-development and corruption issues in the county.

One of the changes he made was to reassign Alfred Kiprotich Lagat as CECM for Lands, Environment, and Climate Change while Dr. Philemon Kiptoo Bureti has been reassigned as CECM for Trade, Enterprise Development, and Tourism.

On the other hand, Sang retained Isaiah Kiplagat Keter as CECM for Administration, Public Service, and ICT, and assigned him as Acting CECM for Transport and Infrastructure.

Governor Sang's changes in his administration follow recommendations from a special committee report that was established to investigate the implementation of various projects in the county, including allegations of mismanagement of public funds.

The report's presentation in the county assembly was marred by chaos as ward representatives clashed during the voting processing.

The government has attributed the changes to its aim of improving services in the county despite the turmoil.
