Officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) are under scrutiny for allegedly raiding the home of Eliud Ng'ang'a, an engineer with Kenya Power and Lighting Company (KPLC) and a pastor.

CCTV footage captured by Ng'ang'a shows the officers raiding his house in Ruiru, Kiambu County, on the night of Thursday, November 21. They attempted to apprehend him forcefully, but their efforts were thwarted by neighbors who heard the commotion and came to investigate.

According to the pastor, the officers tried to enter his home by jumping over the gate without knocking. Upon hearing the noise at the gate, he went to check and found seven men and one woman attempting to enter his property. He asked them to identify themselves, and they claimed to be officers from the DCI.

At that time, two men had already jumped into the compound, assessed it, and then jumped back out to join the rest of the group.

The pastor insisted that the men, who were armed and accompanied by three vehicles, show their identification cards.

A few minutes later, he left the house to confront them, which compelled his son to join him outside.

"At first when I was talking to them, they did not want to respond, then I told my son to record all the number plates of the vehicle. That's when one of the officers removed his gun and threatened to shoot my son," Ng'ang'a narrated.

According to the pastor, he bravely told the officers to shoot him first before harming his son. He also requested that they take him away if he was the reason for the raid.

At that moment, the officers reportedly left, having received a call from higher authorities directing them to vacate the premises.

The senior engineer from KPLC Kiambu and the pastor believe that the raid on his home was motivated by a recent sermon he delivered, in which he criticized the Kenya Kwanza government.

The pastor had spoken out against the government's attempts to silence the church from addressing issues related to the nation's state and governance.

In response to this incident, the pastor filed a report at Gitongore Police Station. DCI has yet to comment on the matter.

This incident occurred just a day after President William Ruto condemned the recent disappearances and abductions happening across the country.

“I must, however, make it very clear: there is no attempt to justify or exercise illegal arrests,” the president said during his State of the Nation Address on Thursday.
