Controversial city preacher Pastor James Ng'ang'a has pledged to buy 100 housing units from the Affordable Housing project to gift to less privileged members of the society, just days after he appeared to mock a lady seeking rent from his church.

Speaking during a press conference organised by the Ministry of Lands on Wednesday, the city preacher, who has been in news headlines over comments he made to the Milka Moraa, announced that if the government would agree to give him the units, then he would transfer the ownership to less privileged Kenyans.

This was after the preacher asked the Cabinet Secretary for Lands Alice Wahome if he could be given 100 units. During the event, the CS assured Ng'ang'a that the government would give him the allocation.

''Can I get 100 house units from the program? I will personally pay for 100 people in the units,'' Pastor Ng'ang'a asserted.

According to Ng'ang'a, his philanthropic efforts stemmed from a spiritual point of origin, where he wanted to at least do something impactful before his death.

''Okay, then give me the allocation letter so that I can go with it. I am doing this because I know that if I take the 100 houses, which I can pay for, I will one day exit this world and there is completely nothing that I will leave with,'' he added.

Ng'ang'a at the same time clapped back at Kenyans who had wrongly interpreted his act of referring the lady to the government when she went to him crying.

According to the preacher, people made him trend for the wrong reasons, often focusing only on the negative aspects of his activities.

Additionally, Pastor Ng'ang'a stated that Moraa's viral moment was a miracle from God, as it helped draw the attention of Kenyans who contributed to her, ultimately enabling her to secure an affordable housing unit.

''I do offer to give a lot of things, including food, but that never trends. On Sunday, someone came with a well-polished suit, saying that it was his last piece remaining and that he wanted to give it as an offering. I gave him Ksh100,000; why did that not trend?'' Nga'ng'a asked.

During the meeting, CS Wahome informed Pastor Ng'ang'a that the Affordable Housing Programme was not just about building houses but also about providing dignity, security, and economic empowerment to millions of Kenyans.

''Our goal is ambitious yet achievable: to deliver 1 million housing units in the next five years, reaching over 15 million Kenyans directly and indirectly," CS Wahome revealed during the meeting.

Further, she described Apostle Ng’ang’a’s visit as both inspiring and impactful and that his interest in understanding the program reflected the growing awareness and support from various sectors of society.
