Cabinet Secretary for Public Service Justin Muturi has flagged as fake a resignation letter making rounds on social media purporting that he has resigned from his position.

In the letter allegedly signed by him, it was claimed that the CS was resigning due to unforeseen challenges in his ministry that made him feel the need to step back.

"Serving in government has been a great honour, and I sincerely thank His Excellency President William Ruto for the opportunity to be part of his administration. However, due to unforeseen challenges in executing my role effectively, I feel it is in the best interest of all involved that I take a step back," the fake letter read in part.

However, while clarifying, the CS has rubbished the letter, revealing that his previous stance on not resigning and forging on with his role continues.

"I categorically state that this letter is fake and should be disregarded. I remain fully committed to serving the people of Kenya in my capacity as Cabinet Secretary, working to strengthen our public service and enhance human capital development,'' Muturi wrote on his official X (formerly Twitter) on Thursday.

Muturi cautioned Kenyans to be vigilant and ensure that they do not consume fake news spread on social media.

''Let us all be vigilant against misinformation intended to mislead the public,'' Muturi advised.

During an interview on Citizen TV, the CS emphasized that he was not going to resign despite a section of government leaders asking him to step down.

The CS allayed concerns surrounding speculations of his looming resignation following his perceived fallout with his boss, President Ruto, maintaining that there are no sufficient grounds for him to quit office.

The former Attorney General exuded confidence in his position in the Cabinet, rubbishing allegations of insubordination owing to his recent remarks.

A section of leaders allied to President Ruto castigated the CS for calling him out over the increased cases of forced disappearances. During a confession on January 12, the CS revealed that his son had been a victim of the forced disappearance and was only released after he called the president.

These revelations put the CS in a bad light with leaders allied to the president, who had asked him to resign if he was not in tandem with the Kenya Kwanza agenda.
