The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) is set to continue its grassroots elections across the country next week.

In a statement on Tuesday, April 1, the ODM Director of Communications, Phillip Etale, said that the party will kickstart the elections on Monday, April 7, in all 47 counties.

According to Etale, the elections, which are a continuation of the elections held in November last year, will be conducted at the ward level on Monday, and only delegates elected at the Polling Unit level will be eligible to participate in the elections.

The elected delegates at the ward level will then progress to the constituency-level elections, which will be held on Wednesday, April 9.

"The ODM party grassroots elections will resume on Monday, 7th April 2025, in all 47 counties in Kenya," he said.

"The exercise is a continuation of the elections that were held on November 17th, 2024, which saw party members elect officials at the Polling Unit level. The Monday election will be conducted at the sub-branch level, which is the ward," he added.

The elections will be conducted through a census or by show of hands and will be coordinated by the county elections committees, according to Etale.

According to National Elections Coordinating Committee (NECC) chairperson Emily Awita, the party has already deployed returning officers and presiding officers to all the 290 constituencies to ensure a seamless election process.

"We are very ready for the exercise. It is all systems go, and we expect the exercise to run smoothly," she says.

On the other hand, the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) is expected to kickstart its grassroots elections the same week, on Friday, April 11, until Saturday, April 12, in 22 counties, according to National Election Board (NEB) Chairman Anthony Mwaura.

On Friday, April 11, Kitui, Machakos, Makueni, Kajiado, Turkana, Kisii, Nyamira, Bungoma, Migori, Siaya, and Kisumu Counties will conduct their elections.

While on Saturday, April 12, Garissa, Wajir, Mandera, Marsabit, Isiolo, Taita Taveta, Kwale, Mombasa, Kilifi, Lamu, and Tana River Counties will hold their elections on Saturday, April 12.
