A 35-year-old man has been arrested after allegedly beheading his two children, aged 2 and 7, in the Tach Asis area in Konoin, Bomet County.

Bomet County Police Commandant Edward Imbwaga confirmed the incident, saying that the suspect used a kitchen knife to carry out the brutal killings.

According to police, the children’s lifeless bodies were found in the kitchen of their home. It is reported that the suspect’s wife was not at home at the time the incident occurred.

When she returned, she followed a trail of blood into the kitchen and discovered the horrific scene before calling the police.

After the police visited the scene, they recovered the suspected murder weapon. The bodies of the two children were taken to Kapkatet Hospital Mortuary for a post-mortem examination.

According to the detectives, the suspect has been arrested and is currently in police custody as investigations into the matter continue.

This incident happened a few days after the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) on Friday, April 4, announced the arrest of the main suspect behind the gruesome murder of a Bomet businesswoman.

Through a statement, the DCI revealed they arrested the man behind the murder, who was a disgruntled former lover of the woman.

“Bomet Central detectives have arrested the prime suspect behind the vicious murder of a Bomet businesswoman, whose lifeless body was discovered on March 25, 2025,” the DCI stated.

The woman was found in her home by her daughter, lying in a pool of blood, with deep neck wounds and multiple stab injuries to her arm, chest and back. This discovery came after the daughter’s efforts to reach her mother had proved futile.

The man was apprehended from his hideout in a village after a probe was launched over a week after he allegedly committed the crime.

“Determined to unravel the mystery behind this cold-blooded crime, detectives launched an intensive probe. Through forensic trails, the suspect was eventually tracked down in his hideout in Sailo village, Kipkelion East Sub-County, and arrested,” noted the sleuths.
