Human rights activist and VOCAL Africa CEO, Hussein Khalid, has announced that their offices in Kileleshwa, Nairobi, were broken into.

In a statement on Tuesday, April 22, he said that sensitive documents and gadgets worth hundreds of thousands were stolen during the incident.

“We wish to inform members of the public that our offices, situated in Kileleshwa, Tabere Crescent, Nairobi, were broken into, and sensitive documents and gadgets were taken away. Our main laptop is missing, as well as other communication gadgets, including the camera,” he said.

According to the statement, Hussein said that the organisation is still unsure about the reason behind the office break-in.

He confirmed that the matter was reported to Kileleshwa Police Station and that police have already visited the scene.

“As an organisation, we are shocked by this attack and have reported the matter to Kileleshwa Police Station. We are uncertain of the motive behind the break-in, but we can confirm that gadgets worth hundreds of thousands were taken. Police have visited our office and recorded their findings,” he added.

He called on the public to stay alert and urged the authorities to move quickly and arrest those behind the incident.

These robberies happened after the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) on April 11 apprehended an infamous robbery with violence gang that was at the heart of various incidents in Narok.

The gang descended on a rental building, robbing tenants of their possessions and injuring a student at Maasai Mara University before fleeing the scene.

However, a pursuit by the officers led to the apprehension of the three, with the authorities recovering the stolen items.

“Police officers from Narok Police Station have netted three suspects linked to a string of robbery with violence incidents in Narok town and its neighbouring areas.”

"The arrest follows a distress call about an ongoing robbery at Total village. Responding swiftly, the officers established that a three-man gang had stormed a rental building, robbed tenants of their cherished possessions, including mobile phones, laptops, and gas cylinders,” they added.
