President William Ruto on Friday, May 2, expressed hope in Arsenal Football Club lifting this season's Champions League trophy.

Speaking at State House while receiving the UEFA Champions League trophy, Ruto exuded confidence in Arsenal's ability to beat Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) in the Champions League semi-finals next week.

The Head of State, who is also an avid supporter of the top-tier English Premier League (EPL) club, expressed his immense admiration for Arsenal.

According to Ruto, he was confident that Arsenal would overturn the single-goal deficit against the French League 1 team and proceed to the finals of the tournament set to be held in Munich, Germany.

"As has been said, I am an Arsenal supporter, and I hope they overturn the one-nil loss to PSG this week when they meet in Paris next Wednesday and advance to the finals to hopefully lift this trophy," he said.

"Since I am the last to hold it. I am praying for my team so that this year they lift this trophy in the finals. Whichever team you are rooting for, let us enjoy the game," Ruto added.

Arsenal is expected to face PSG for the second leg of the UEFA Champions League semi-final match on Wednesday, May 7, at the Parc Des Princes stadium in Paris, France.

The Gunners will be going into the game with a single-goal deficit following their frustrating loss to PSG at the Emirates Stadium in London, England, on Tuesday, April 29.

PSG winger, Ousmane Ndembele, scored the only goal, four minutes into the match, giving his team an advantage in the high-voltage competition.

Meanwhile, the UEFA Chamipns League trophy made its way back to Kenya after more than a decade, sparking excitement among football lovers in the country.

The trophy was presented to Ruto at State House by Bayern Munich legend Bastian Schweinsteiger, who won the trophy with the German team in 2013.

Schweinsteiger arrived in the country alongside other UEFA officials. During the tour, Kenyan fans will also have a chance to see and pose for photos with the trophy.
