Kenya Met Lists Nairobi and Kiambu Among Regions to Experience Rainfall in the Next 7 Days

The Kenya Meteorological Department has announced that a few regions will receive rainfall in the next seven days.

In a statement on Monday, May 19, the weatherman noted that Highlands East and West of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin, the Rift Valley, the Coast, and North-western Kenya are expected to receive continued rainfall from Tuesday, May 20, to Monday, May 26.

The statement noted that the Highland East counties of Nyandarua, Laikipia, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Murang'a, Kiambu, Meru, Embu, Tharaka-Nithi, and Nairobi will experience cloudy mornings, with occasional rains over a few places, giving way to sunny intervals during this period.

In the afternoon, several areas in these counties are likely to experience showers accompanied by thunderstorms, while at night, showers are likely to hit a few places.

Residents of Machakos, Kitui, Makueni, Kajiado, and Taita-Taveta counties, as well as the inland parts of Tana River County, are expected to receive sunny intervals during the day, while the nights are expected to be partly cloudy.

The weatherman has, however, noted that a few places in these counties may receive showers during the afternoon and nights in the next three days.

Mombasa, Kilifi, Lamu, Kwale counties, and the coastal parts of Tana River County are predicted to receive showers during the morning and afternoon, while the nights are expected to be partly cloudy. 

Nandi, Kakamega, Vihiga, Bungoma, Siaya, Busia, Baringo, Nakuru, Trans-Nzoia, Uasin-Gishu, Elgeyo-Marakwet, West-Pokot, Kisii, Nyamira, Kericho, Bomet, Kisumu, Homabay, Migori, and Narok counties are, in the morning, expected to receive sunny intervals, but occasional rainfall may occur in a few places.

According to the department, these counties may receive showers accompanied by thunderstorms during the afternoon and showers during the night.

In Marsabit, Mandera, Wajir, Garissa, and Isiolo counties, sunny intervals are set to be experienced during the day, while at night, the conditions are expected to be partly cloudy. However, a few places are likely to receive showers in the afternoon and night during this period.

In Turkana and Samburu counties, residents are likely to receive morning rains as well as afternoon while at night, showers accompanied by thunderstorms are likely to hit a few places.

According to the weatherman, maximum daytime temperatures are projected to increase in most parts of the country, except Kisumu, Machakos, and Narok Counties.

On the other hand, night-time temperatures are expected to decrease; however, Lodwar, Wajir, and Kisumu will record an increase in temperature during the night.
