Nairobi, Mombasa Among Regions to Receive Rain in the Next Seven Days, Says Kenya Met

The Kenya Meteorological Department has urged Kenyans in seven regions to brace for continued rainfall this week.

In its weekly forecast, released on Monday, June 16, the weatherman said that Highlands East and West of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin, the Rift Valley, Coast and some parts of the South-eastern lowlands and North-western Kenya will experience rain between Tuesday, June 17, and Saturday, June 21.

According to Kenya Met, residents in Nyandarua, Laikipia, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Murang'a, Kiambu, Meru, Embu, Tharaka, and Nairobi counties will likely experience cloudy skies breaking into sunny intervals in most mornings throughout the week, apart from Tuesday morning, when it is predicted to rain in a few places.

Showers are expected to be experienced in the afternoon and night throughout the week, apart from Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights, which will remain partly cloudy.

Residents in these areas have been alerted that they might experience cold temperatures of 6°C throughout the forecasted period. The maximum temperatures are expected to be 27°C.

Kitui, Makueni, Machakos, Kajiado, and Taita Taveta Counties, as well as the inland parts of Tana River County, are expected to experience daylong sunny conditions for most of the week, apart from Friday and Saturday afternoon, when showers are expected in a few places. Nights are expected to be partly cloudy throughout the week.

According to the weatherman, the maximum temperatures in these areas are expected to be 31°C, while the minimum temperature will be 9°C.

The weatherman has predicted that Mombasa, Kilifi, Lamu, and Kwale counties, as well as Tana River County, on the other hand, will experience showers in a few places during the morning and afternoon on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Friday and Saturday are expected to remain sunny throughout the day. Showers over a few places are expected on Tuesday and Wednesday nights.

The maximum temperature in these counties during this period is expected to be 31°C, while the minimum temperature could hit 22°C.

Siaya, Kisumu, Homabay, Migori, Kisii, Nyamira, Trans Nzoia, Baringo, Uasin Gishu, Elgeyo-Marakwet, Nandi, Nakuru, Narok, Kericho, Bomet, Kakamega, Vihiga, Bungoma, Busia, and West Pokot counties are expected to experience rains and showers during the day-long rain showers, accompanied by thunderstorms, for most of the week.

The maximum temperature in these counties during this period is expected to be 30°C, while the minimum temperature could drop to as low as 9°C.

Turkana and Samburu are set to receive rains and showers in a few places during the day and night throughout the week. The maximum temperature is expected to be 36°C, while the minimum temperature is set to be 8°C.

On the other hand, Marsabit, Mandera, Wajir, Garissa, and Isiolo Counties will experience daylong sunny intervals and partly cloudy conditions throughout the forecasted period. The maximum temperatures in these areas are expected to be 31°C, while the minimum will be 23°C.
