Defence Cabinet Secretary Soipan Tuya and her Transport counterpart, Davis Chrichir, on Friday, June 20, made notable appointments to their ministries as part of the broader plan to enhance service delivery in government.

In the gazette notice, Tuya appointed Josep Kivunzi to be the chairperson of the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) Pensions Appeals Committee for the next three years.

Kivuzi joins colonels Joseph Yator, Lewis Muluvi and Muthomi Nchuurai, who were appointed to the committee on January 31 this year when the CS established the taskforce.

Others who are also part of the committee include Brigadiers Jeremiah Maroko and Kioko Mwololo, who were appointed to the committee in February this year.

The primary function of the pension appeal committee is to ensure that the pension scheme for the military officers is effectively and efficiently managed.

In yesterday's appointments, Transport CS Chirchir appointed Emmanuel Kibet to be a member of the Board of Directors of the Kenya Ports Authority (KPA).

While making the announcement, Chirchir stated that Kibet would serve as a member of the board for three years. Following Kibet's appointment, the CS revoked Peter Omingo’s appointment.

Omingo, whose previous appointment in the Ministry of Transport was revoked by Chirchir, was reappointed by Sports Cabinet Secretary Salim Mvurya.

He was appointed alongside Mohamed Mraja to be a member of the Board of the Anti-Doping Agency of Kenya for three years, effective June 20, 2025.

Attorney General Dorcas Oduor also made 16 notable appointments in her docket. She constituted a 16-member task force on the development of the National Council on the Administration of Justice Bill.

Members of the taskforce include Lady Justice Patricia Nyaundi, Moses Marang’a, Muciimi Mbaka, Mary Wairagu, Samson Maundu, Mary Kitegi, Scholastica Mbilo, and Mercy Muthuuri.
