The High Commission of India in Nairobi has issued an auction notice inviting bids for the sale of various outdated items.
In a notice issued on Tuesday July 29, the Commission urged interested buyers and dealers to acquire goods from its inventory.
The items up for auction can be found at the India Residential Complex on High Ridge, Wangapala Road, Parklands, Nairobi, and at India House on Limuru Road in Muthaiga, Nairobi.
"High Commission of India, Nairobi, invites bids in the enclosed proforma (Annexure II) for disposal of obsolete items from the interested dealers/buyers. The details of items have been mentioned in Annexure- III & IV," the notice reads.
The items to be auctioned at their Parklands office include wooden chairs, tyres, heavy metal gates, roll-up banner machines, whiteboards, cupboards, wooden podiums, wooden doors and gates, stage lights, boxes, tabletop boards and banner stands.
Other items include banner sheets, hand dryers, water dispensers, sofa sets, old curtains, wooden cupboards, metal racks, wooden side tables and wooden and plastic storage solutions.
Items to be auctioned in their Limuru Road offices include wooden library almirahs, wooden tables, iron bollards, iron grilles, a glass gate, glass panels, old flagpoles and a large, heavy wooden crate.
The interested buyers are urged to inspect the items from July 29, 2025, to August 7, 2025, between 9am to 11:30 am. The commission said that bidders must inspect the items and satisfy themselves about their condition before bidding.
At the High Commission of India, UN Crescent, Gigiri, Nairobi, the last date and time of submission of bids is on August 7, 2025, 5pm. The commission stated that no bid shall be accepted after the due date and time, and the time for opening is on August 8, 2025, at 3pm.
According to the commission, a mandatory Earnest Money Deposit of Ksh5,000 is required, and it must be deposited along with the bid in the form of an account payee Bank draft/cheque, payable to the Head of Chancery.
The commission said that the items will be sold to the highest bidder, and the balance payment must be deposited within three working days after the selection; failure to do so will result in the offer being cancelled and the EMD forfeited.
"Bidders are required to quote prices in the enclosed proforma (Annexure II) in a sealed envelope, both in figures and in words, and the currency must be Kenyan Shillings only."
"In case of any discrepancy between figures and in words, the total amount quoted in words shall be taken to be correct for this bid. The sealed envelope should be addressed to the Head of Chancery, High Commission of India, Nairobi. The bid must reach the addressee on or before the due date otherwise, it is liable to be rejected," part of the notice reads.
