Peter Ayiro, the Alliance Girls' High School teacher who was named in damning grooming allegations involving students at the institution, has quit his job.
In a letter obtained by Kenyans.co.ke, Ayiro wrote to the Teachers Service Commission, revealing that his resignation would take effect immediately.
"I hereby tender my resignation from the Teachers Service Commission, effective immediately under the terms and conditions of service," he stated.
In July, news broke that the teacher of German, who also served as the Christian Union (CU) patron at the prestigious high school, had allegedly been manipulating the students and having a sexual relationship with them once they came of age.
In the letter, Ayiro, who had served in the teaching capacity for 26 years, relayed that the allegations made by several of the school's alumni had turned his life upside down.
Insisting that the accusations were not based on any truth, Ayiro wrote that he had suffered cyberbullying, received threats, and even been rejected by his church.
"This decision has not come easily. It is a result of the false accusations levelled against me. I continue to endure evil, monstrous and persistent cyberbullying, threats of physical harm, public humiliation, and even being ostracised from my church," Ayiro claimed.
Adding, "This has been an attack on my character, career and social standing, putting me under great stress and strain."
Nonetheless, he expressed gratitude for the decades he has been a teacher, noting that he had garnered invaluable experience and growth, and hoped that TSC would maintain fairness, transparency and support for its employees.
He concluded his letter by revealing that he had already paid an equivalent of a one-month salary instead of issuing a notice.
In a damning investigative exposé compiled by one of the alleged victims, several alumni, dating all the way back to the early 2000s, up to as recent as 2022, shared the emotional rollercoaster they had gone through.
Reportedly, he would use favours and religious manipulation to attract the students when they were still in school and then reel them back into a sexual relationship after they left high school.
The revelation sparked public outrage even as more victims came out to protest, calling for his arrest. The Principal Secretary for Education, Julius Bitok, even called for the immediate dismissal and prosecution of the teacher.
