Former Jubilee Party Secretary General Raphael Tuju has formally resigned from the Jubilee Party, led by former President Uhuru Kenyatta.
In a resignation letter addressed to the former president, dated Tuesday, August 19, Tuju stated that, given the rapidly evolving political ecosystem both in the country and within the Jubilee party, he sees no further value he can add to the party.
Acknowledging the political Journey he has traversed over the years, especially with the former President, Tuju has affirmed that despite his resignation, he will remain loyal to him and is willing to collaborate with him in future political ventures.
"This letter is to thank you and pay tribute to our political association that dates back to the time when I worked with you under President Kibaki to create the PNU outfit," Tuju said.

"I still look forward to working with you in the future. However, at present, I see no more value that I can add to the Jubilee party. I therefore tender my resignation. Please accept my best wishes for your well-being and for the party," he added.
Tuju served as the Jubilee Party Secretary-General (SG) from 2016 to 2022. According to Tuju, the fact that the former president trusted him, despite them coming from two different communities, to help steer the party signified Uhuru's bold stance against tribalism.
Tuju assured that his resignation will also pave the way and give young Kenyans a chance to explore the political arena.
Apart from being the party's SG, Tuju in 2018 was also appointed by the former President as a cabinet secretary, a position he held until Uhuru left Office in 2022.
"It was an exceptionally bold political step on your part to have entrusted this sensitive position to me as a person coming from the Luo tribe, while the anchor of the party was essentially the Kikuyu and Kalenjin tribes," Tuju stated.
"We dared to dream and to be naïve in the Kenyan political arena that we could go beyond tribe. I still hold dear those values of our shared humanity, beyond the easy tribal mobilisation of "Us against Them," he added.
On the other hand, Tuju stressed the need for Kenyans to remain focused in ensuring that they unlock the economic and social potential of the country, which, according to Tuju, has over the years demonstrated enormous potential.
"I hope that more Kenyans will be able to understand that even in the midst of so much misery and poverty, the potential of this country is up there. A situation analysis that makes the UN still transfer more of its operations out of New York to Nairobi cannot happen if there was no such potential," Tuju stated.
