Hardly four days after the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party clarified its youth leadership position, political activist Kasmuel McOure came out to clear the air regarding the matter.
This is after ODM on Saturday, November 15, clarified that Johnmark Ketorah was the legitimate Youth League President, dismissing claims purporting that Kasmuel had been appointed to the same position.
"The President of the ODM Youth League is Honourable Johnmark Ketorah. Ignore any publication circulating containing misleading information on the same," read ODM's statement.
ODM was forced to address the matter following a publication circulated during the party's 20th Anniversary, which listed McOure, among others, as party leaders in various positions.
In response, Kasmuel, on Tuesday, November 18, clarified that he was comfortable working for the party in whichever role he is deemed fit to perform.
According to the activist, he was focused on helping the party grow, insisting that his decision to join ODM was out of love rather than mere leadership positions and titles.
"There is no work within the ODM party that I consider too small for me. The moment you join ODM, you come face-to-face with the sheer labour it takes to run a movement, especially when you love it," Kasmuel stated.
He went on to add, "So let no one, no pretender of convenience, imagine that there is any task I would consider beneath me. In ODM, we do not chase titles. We ask one thing only. How best can we deliver for our people?"
In his remarks, Kasmuel maintained that he would continue keeping a low profile within ODM and allow those in authority to exercise their powers without interference.
Despite exuding confidence in ODM, Kasmuel challenged the party's leadership to consider supporting upcoming political talents, adding that many of the people who carry the party remained unrecognised.
"Our party needs workers, people who defend it on every front. It needs the vim and vigour of youth. It needs consensus builders. It needs volunteers," Kasmuel argued.
While Kasmuel has been largely known to be an active member and supporter of ODM, the political activist has confirmed that he has yet to land any notable role within the party.
Last year, he was appointed by the late former Prime Minister Raila Odinga as part of the party's youth and student league members, handing him a political boost.
