The Mbeere North UDA candidate Leo Wa Muthende boycotted the Mbeere North by-election aspirants' debate hosted by a local television station on November 23, 2025.

The UDA candidate instead held a town hall meeting with youth from Mbeere North constituency as his opponents participated in the debate.

The United Opposition candidate Newton Karish, who is vying under the Democratic Party, attended the aspirants' debate where he defended his manifesto for Mbeere North constituency.

Wa Muthende also used the town hall meeting to explain his plan for Mbeere North to the residents who attended the meeting.

During the town hall meeting, Wa Muthende also awarded the winners of the Leo Super Cup, a football competition that the UDA candidate held on November 23, 2025.

Chama Cha Kazi candidate Duncan Mbui did not also show up for the debate at the local television station.

A total of seven candidates turned out for the Mbeere North aspirants' debate. They included Lawrence Ireri Mwaniki, Albert Murimi, Isaac Murigingi, Simon Waiharo, Reuben Kamathai, Lawrence Ireri, and Newton Karish.

The Mbeere North by-election has witnessed vigorous campaigns, with the united opposition and UDA party being on the frontline as they campaign for their respective candidates.

Both the two parties are invested in winning the by-elections which could redefine the political landscape ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Candidates across the country contesting in the November 27, 2025, by-elections are conducting their final elections campaigns today.
