The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) has vowed to prosecute perpetrators of online sexual harassment on digital platforms.

The ODPP said this in a statement shared on its official platforms on 26th November 2025, shared across social media platforms.

It said online sexual harassment is not only harmful but also constitutes a form of abuse.

The public prosecutor insisted that it will ensure that perpetrators of the sexual offences will face legal action.

“Online sexual harassment is not only harmful, but is also a form of abuse. The ODPP ensures perpetrators of online sexual harassment face legal consequences.” The ODPP statement read.

The online sexual harassment offences include sexually suggestive comments, threats, unwanted messages, and degrading content targeting women and girls on digital platforms.

This statement comes as the world marks 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence (GBV) campaign.

The ODPP highlighted that it is advancing a victim-centred prosecution model that will prioritise survivors’ dignity, privacy, and protection.

The Office of the Director of Public Prosecution urged Kenyans to report incidents of online sexual harassment at the police station for prosecution.

The ODPP reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring digital spaces are safe for all users and free of harassment.
