Mwangangi on Saturday, December 13, said that the move is aimed at bolstering the Authority's managerial capacity and strengthening service delivery within its departments.

The appointment of the 82 principal officers follows a competitive and transparent recruitment process that commenced on July 29, 2025.

"SHA is pleased to announce the appointment of eighty-two new Principal Officers. These significant appointments follow a competitive and transparent recruitment process that began on July 29, 2025," Mwangangi said.

The appointments span principal officers in legal services, benefits management, supply chain management, planning and linkages, and the principal officer in charge of registration and compliance in counties.

SHA also appointed principal officers in charge of registration and compliance within the national government and principal officers in charge of fund management and finance.

In a bid to boost the Authority's managerial capacity, SHA further announced the appointment of principal officers in charge of human resource management and development and customer experience.

Others appointed to the Authority's management include principal officers in charge of Information, Communication and Technology (ICT), Corporate communication, internal audit, records management and administrator.

A huge chunk of those named were appointed as principal officers in charge of claims management officers in counties, with 47 people named under this docket.

"The Authority takes this opportunity to express its deep appreciation to the dedicated staff for their unwavering support and commitment to the interim staff throughout this critical transition period," Mwangangi stated.

The appointments come on the back of SHA's management challenges that have slowed the smooth running of the Authority, which also threatened the sustainability of the new health insurance scheme.
