Uhuru Kenyatta's Cousin Wanjiku Muhoho Quits Jubilee to Vie as Independent Candidate

A member of the Kenyatta family has shown rare defiance to the president's directive, joining those who have rebelled from Uhuru Kenyatta's Jubilee party.

Kenyatta's cousin Wanjiku Muhoho has officially quit the Jubilee party and will now vie as an independent candidate.

Muhoho, who contested for the Jubilee party ticket to vie for the Nyandarua Woman Representative seat, came a distant third in a race that was won by Ms Faith Gitau.

The results of the exercise were contested at the Political Parties Dispute Tribunal with the final verdict coming from the High Court which upheld Gitau's win.

27-year-old Wanjiku revealed that while her competitors were busy fighting over the party ticket, she was busy strategizing how to win votes for herself and her cousin Uhuru Kenyatta.

She becomes the youngest aspirant in the race.

Her decision comes a few days after President Kenyatta urged aspirants who lost the party nominations to drop their bids and rally behind the winners.
