Purity Wangui Ngirici to Vie for Kirinyaga Woman Representative Seat on a Jubilee Ticket

In April, one woman hit headlines after winning the Jubilee Party ticket for the Kirinyaga Woman Representative seat ahead of the August 8 General Election. 

Purity Wangui Ngirici won the primaries with a landslide and is said to have also played a great role in the victory of the gubernatorial aspirant, former Devolution Cabinet Secretary Anne Waiguru.

So who is Ms Ngirici?

The Jubilee aspirant is an astute business lady with her speciality areas being travel firms, oil production, mining, real estate and clearing and forwarding.  

She is a beauty and brain being a Bachelor of Commerce degree holder from London University. She is also a diploma holder in systems designs and analysis and is currently pursuing a Masters of Science in Human Resource.

She has previously worked with the United Nations World Food Programme also served as a partner of the Tokyo Japan Assemblies.

Her entry in politics was engineered by the cries of Kirinyaga residents in accessing county services such as poor medical services, poor allocation of bursaries, inequality in employment by county government and slow development.

The businesswoman, who is also a pilot, traversed the County initiating several projects among them road grading, mining and excavation and sanitation programmes.

She has also been involved in youth empowerment, setting up medical camps, launching a boda-boda Sacco and Wangui Ngirichi Foundation that has seen over 80 children get educated. 

Ms Ngirici, who is a first-timer in politics, was born in Kabare location in the mid-70s and is married to Andrew Ngirici, a wealthy businessman.

The mother of three is also a staunch Christian and a committed member of the Anglican Church's Mothers Union.

She draws her inspiration from the wellness of the electorates with her vision being to empower them socially and economically.
