Raila Odinga Petitions Police and IEBC to Arrest Jubilee Supporters who Caused Chaos At Rally in Kapsabet ASK Showground

National Super Alliance (NASA) leaders led by Raila Odinga has asked the police and the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) to take action against Jubilee supporters who disrupted an Opposition rally at the Kapsabet ASK Showground in Nandi County on Sunday.

During the highly-charged meeting, which turned chaotic after NASA and Jubilee supporters clashed, Raila asked the IEBC to act tough on any incidences of election violence.

Opposition leaders called for the implementation of the election code of conduct to ensure that the electioneering period was free from sporadic acts of violence and stated that such incidences could plunge the country into turmoil if not adequately addressed.

In support of the NASA flag-bearer, Kalonzo Musyoka went on to bash the Jubilee governemnt for a poor track record. He stated that the free secondary primary education was his brain child during Kibaki’s era and Jubilee had failed to deliver on that.

Equally, President Uhuru Kenyatta on Sunday lashed out at NASA leaders for their false claims on implementing free secondary education in 100 days after the election.

During a stop-over along Nairobi- Nakuru Highway, Uhuru addressed his supporters and termed NASA’s education plan as unrealistic and misleading to Kenyans.

“Leaders should not just wake up in the morning and tell Kenyans that they will do this and that within a given period after they win elections, without thinking or planning how to go about such issues,” Uhuru stated.

The President addressed residents of Free Area, Kikopey, Gilgil and Naivasha as he was winding down his three-day tour of Nakuru County.

He emphasised that government projects require proper planning; sourcing for funds for successful implementation and Raila’s plan was misleading politics.

Last week on Monday when Uhuru was pressenting his nomination papers to IEBC for clearance to vie, supporters of Jubilee Party and NASA clashed after a canvas portrait with images of the NASA principals was set on fire in protest.

This enraged supporters allied to the Opposition leading to a bitter exchange of words and stone throwing.

A more tragic incident happened on Friday where two people lost their lives after Jubilee Party supporters and the National Super Alliance (NASA) clashed in Bungoma town.
