KANU Threatens to Withdraw Support for President Uhuru Kenyatta's Re-Election Bid

KANU Party leaders have warned President Uhuru Kenyatta to reign in his deputy William Ruto or see them withdraw their support for his re-election campaign.

Led by the party chairman Senator Gideon Moi, the leaders conveyed that DP Ruto's recent attacks on Rift Valley politicians could cost President Kenyatta the party's endorsement.

"We have called a meeting with the President to discuss the issue because it is discouraging to see elected leaders being insulted by some leaders from the Jubilee side," the Baringo Senator stated.

Senator Moi was backed by KANU Secretary General Nick Salat who reminded the President of how crucial their support is.

"For Jubilee to win the elections in August, they need our support, and if they are tired with our support, we can as well support other parties," Mr Salat reiterated.

DP Ruto has been locked in a back and forth with Uasin Gishu Governor Jackson MandagoKapseret Member of Parliament Oscar Sudi and Alfred Keter (Nandi Hills) who all accuse him of meddling in the region's politics by pushing for the Jubilee Party to support his preferred candidates.

Emurua Dikirr MP Johana Ng’eno also sent the DP a warning asking him to shelve his ambition for the Presidency in 2022 presidency.

"We are tired of insults and dictatorship from the DP and he should stop day dreaming of becoming President in 2022 because we have already settled on Gideon Moi who is able to change this country," Mr Ng'eno assured.
